Tuesday 27 March 2012: The Grand Palace

A day for sightseeing and settling in before the EARCOS Conference starts tomorrow. A friendly taxi driver named Jack took me to Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn) and The Grand Palace. Here the King of Birds, Garuda, fights with Naga, the Snake God, on Wat Phra Kaew, or Temple of the Emerald Buddha. After these splendid sights, Jack took me to a large jewelry shop, two tailors and a fake brand-goods shop, all without me asking. He gets commission for every customer he brings in. There's always a catch! Still, it was worth it.
