Wednesday 28 March 2012: Immy's Chair

We bought a chair for Immy's bedroom last week. It was sitting outside an Antiques & Bric-a-Brac shop in Richmond stuck at the end of a set of dining chairs, looking like the odd relation. She instantly lit upon it as we drove past, saying she would much prefer a chair like that to a modern swivel chair.

When we went to investigate, we discovered that it was rather worn-looking and, to my husband's eye at least, 'a bit battered'. However, this only added to its appeal in Immy's eyes and as it was reasonably priced (and a lot cheaper than a swivel chair!), we bought it. When she got home, she updated her facebook status to "just bought a chair." A number of - progressively more and more off-topic, as is the way with facebook! - comments ensued, including a request for a photo of the chair.

So I decided to photograph it for her today and took it out into the garden where I tried it in various 'poses'. I have chosen to blip this shot as I like the textures in the background (the little basket on the ground also came from the same shop, albeit a few days later. It contains some grapes, which you can't see, and some apples - all picked in the garden this afternoon). When I returned the chair to her room, Immy asked me what I had been doing with it and when I showed her the pics, she said "That's a bit odd. I like it in my room best." Nevertheless, I have uploaded a small album to facebook entitled "Immy's Chair, the Supermodel". Wonder what her friends will think...... my friend Dina has already commented that she's 'beautiful'! (Thankyou, Dinsters!)
