Thursday 29 March 2012: Grass fly

A nice little entomological pic for you all today. KinkyCupcakes and I found this little fella in the grass at Uni in the Japanese Garden today, franticly waving its front legs about something. I've never seen one like this before but it looked similar to a mosquito so I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's a kind of dipteran. It's amazing what you find in the grass if you look close enough.
