Thursday 29 March 2012: The only shot of the day....
Not happy at all with this image, but it was all I managed to grab this evening shortly before sunset, as we had our neighbours (both sides!) round for drinks on the deck. It's actually better viewed in large, but still not what I would have liked. The camera settings were all wrong and tweaking it in iPhoto has limited success when compared with Photoshop, which is currently not functioning properly on my laptop.
My mother-in-law has come into town to spend the night with us as my husband is setting off back to Bahrain on Sunday (Immy and I will be following a couple of days later - hurrah!). We thought it would be nice to have the neighbours over and so I invited them for 5pm sundowners, but as two of them were due to go to their regular film club screening at 6 o'clock, they asked if they could come at 4.30. No problem said I, and made dinner reservations at that nice little bistro nearby for 7.15pm. Well, it was a beautiful, azure afternoon which gradually gave way to a balmy evening as we sat out on the deck with glasses of pinot noir, pinot gris, a cheeseboard and some other tasty morsels. Conversation was animated and before we knew it, M & H had missed their six o'clock film. As the sun sank behind the ranges and a sudden chill gripped the air, I looked in panic at my watch and saw that it was already 7.15, By half past, I had to sneak away and phone the bistro to say that we would be a little late.....
Not sure that M & H made it to their Rock & Roll/Swing dance class, the next item on their regular Thursday evening agenda after film club, as we watched them meander away down the drive (this couple is surely in their mid 60s), saying that they might have had 'a bit much to drink'. As we managed to polish off seven bottles of wine between six people, I'm not surprised....
We finally reached the restaurant at 8pm and had a very nice meal. Now, it's time for bed. Will try to get a better blip tomorrow!
