Thursday 29 March 2012: Robert I

The body of Robert I (1274 - 1329), popularly known as Robert the Bruce, is buried here in Dunfermline Abbey. (His heart was finally interred in Melrose Abbey after being taken to the Holy Land in a casket)

His grave now lies under the pulpit covered by a large brass grave marker. And the words "KING ROBERT THE BRUCE" were formed with large stone lettering around the four sides of the crown of this tower.
