To be hopeful in bad times.....It is based on the fact that human history is not only cruelty but also compassion, sacrifice, courage and kindness. We live in this complex world of history. If you only see the worst, your capacity to do something will be destroyed. However, if you remember those times where people have behaved magnificently, this will give you an energy to act. The future is an infinite succession of presents.
