Friday 30 March 2012: The long drop

How on earth has this remained clinging on to the wall when the floor has long gone? A busy day taking in Bantry, Ballylickey and Ballydehob! I was trying to work out how to visit the remains of a mansion in Ballylickey when I stumbled across a little hamlet, ruined and being reclaimed by undergrowth. I hacked my way up the path, now full of blueblells and primrose, and one orchid! About four little houses nestled amidst the ivy and briars - floors long gone but fireplaces clinging to the walls, shutters askew and broken glass in the sash windows spoke of a fairly comfortable existence. They were obviously inhabited not that long ago as this loo looks modern - what an incongrous sight!
Happy weekend, hope the weather continues :)
