'Pick your own'

It is always a great moment when the first bunch of flowers can be picked from our allotment. I should now be able to pick flowers right through to the autumn time. These tulips are looking beautiful, much better than shop bought.
I like to think of the history of tulips and their once important status as a valuable trading commodity. Also that their name comes from the turkish word for turban.
To keep our supply of picked flowers going we will soon be planting an annual flowering seed bed with cornflowers, marigolds, sunflowers etc. We will also have lots of lillies, and summer flowering bulbs.
