The water carriers

These ladies hold aloft a drinking fountain in the grounds of The Wallace Collection.

In 1872, Sir Richard Wallace (1818-90) presented the City of Paris, 50 examples of this sculpture designed by Charles-Auguste Lebourg.

I don't particularly like the collection of art in the house but love these women. Each has her own character and a certain art nouveau elegance.
