Bird Behind Bards

We went back to Lake Merritt today, where we spotted this bird inside the aviary trying to get out. It looks like a chukar (a bigger photo of him here), a Eurasian bird imported to the US as a game bird. I don't know if it's in the aviary because it's injured or sick, but apparently they do live in California. This is the first one I've seen.
