Tussock Tales

Arlington

This a must see if you are visiting Washington. From a little dogs point of view it is so very hard to get your head around this place. I found it a place of contrasts. An area of great beauty with rolling green hills, wonderful trees and foliage and white gravestones everwhere you look. R and A got an audio tour and lived some of the memorable moments again but I know that R struggled with the photography knowing the eternal sadness that lay behind the view and feeling the intrusive nature of every shutter release. We all watched the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier, The snap and crackle of precision, the silk of the March, 21 steps across the area, The awkwardness of a group of school children as they presented a wreath, one of them with trousers inches too long and rumpled on his shoes. The feeling of futility that will linger much longer than I will ever be comfortable with.
But I am only a little stuffed dog so what do I know?
