Travels Through A Lens

Magnolia

A day spent in York looking around the Open Studios and seeing parts of York I haven't visited before.

This picture was taken on my walk around the different artists studios/houses and whilst I took lots of pictures of the flowers against the glorious blue sky I love the seed head on this left behind after the petals have fallen away.

My dad's side of the family are from York and dad was born and brought up in York. I regret not finding out more about his earlier life and that of my grandparents, when he and they were alive. He was a quiet Yorkshire man and as we lived abroad when I was younger I didn't see much of either of my parents family. However, I did spend school holidays with my Nan (dad's mum) who knitted my doll's clothes and as my grandad had worked at Rowntrees chocolate factory (although he had passed away before I was born), my Nan had a cupboard of chocolate and biscuits.

My brother and I would travel on the train in our grey school uniform with burgandy blazers and without escort aged 8 and 7 with someone from school putting us on the train at one end and my gran meeting us at York. York train station always seemed huge but exciting.

(I'm not sure if I've said all this before on blip but never the less today brought back those memories.)

I started feeling 'normal' again today. I don't know what happened last week, but I was just on a low point for no particular reason. Anyway, weekends and your positivity always recharge my batteries.

Also booked the accommodation in Venice £48 a night :)

Hope you had a great weekend fellow blippers.
