Tuesday 3 April 2012: Broken Windows

Broken Windows
Washington is a city of contrasts. There are some wonderful old buildings lovingly restored and maintained alongside bright new fresh architectural wonders and it all seems to work really well.
We continued our visit to the Newseum today having found that we could have another day on the tickets and marveled at the Pulitzer photographs and the photographers that made them and often died doing so. From a photojournalistic point of view this sums it up.
If it makes you laugh
If it makes you cry
If it rips out your heart
That's a good picture

Eddie Adams Pulitzer prize winner

There are a lot of them in this building.

The image is not the Newseum but one we passed on the way to it and wondered how the window got broken
