Tuesday 3 April 2012: Tuesday Night Out
We went to hear the Paul Hemmings Uketet, a jazz combo featuring, yes, a ukulele! It was a lovely concert. I can't improve on their blurb: From the Hawaiian Islands to the island of Manhattan, The Uketet combines the warm spirit of Aloha with the vibrancy of New York's world-renowned jazz scene to concoct a tantalizing taste of instrumental ukulele music. Music-speak is like art-speak: lotsa soniferous good words that roll off the tongue, balance out in the brain, and satisfy the sense of symmetry, all without actually revealing much of anything.
