Wednesday 4 April 2012: Helicopter

Headed back to the stream this morning. I had no plans after yesterday's success, in fact you should never expect more than a few mediocre blips following an exceptional blip day. So it seemed, when I had hardly switched the engine off and popped the stand, when Fitri turned up, armed with her trusty insect locator (stick). I hadn't even removed the lens cap and already the session was doomed, it seemed that the blip monster was not satisfied with just a soggy bottom from yesterday.

All of a sudden, Fitri quit her jabbering and looked to the sky. Her sense of hearing far more acute than mine, she had identified a helicopter heading this way. If there is one thing in the skies that will grab a child's fullest attention it is the flying blob with the cooling fan, chugging along so close, you swear you could see the pilot wink.

First instinct for many would have been to nail the copter, but the look of awe on Fitri's face was classic and was easily the best option. The thumbnail looked good, so I called it a day, on one of my shortest sessions yet. The blip monster was just playing with me.
