Friday 6 April 2012: Slate Bench

After our walk yesterday I expected that everyone would want a rest today but they didn't complain when I suggested that we climb High Pike near Caldbeck.

I couldn't have made it much easier for them, we parked at Nether Row and walked up along the Cumbria Way past Potts Gill mine workings. We soon climbed into low cloud and rain which stayed with us until we descended.

As you can see from the picture the views weren't great so we didn't hang about on the summit but it looks like somewhere I would like to return to.

We have a bit of a joke that the girls have a speed dial for Childline set on their phones for when I take them walking in the rain but today the dog was bedraggled and looked like she wanted to call the RSPCA!

We called at the Oddfellows in Caldbeck for a beer before heading back to the cottage to sit in front of the fire. We are packing up and heading home in the morning, seems like the holiday is over all too soon.
