Train of thought...

It may have become clear over the course of my blips i love useless facts... today is the anniversary of an event from 1830... the opening of the first commercial railway from Liverpool to Manchester.

The same day also saw the first ever railway fatality. An MP (William Huskisson) stepped off the train to shake hands with the Duke of Wellington and was run over by the train he had just got off ...

... is it wrong to find that funny?

ps I pass this fountain a lot in Manchester and love the gargoyles. It was designed & erected in 1897 for Queen Victorias diamond Jubilee.
