Roubaix Roubaix Roubaix Roubaix!

Okay, so he might have been the favourite after Cancellara's withdrawal, but Boonen hitting out on his own over 50km from the end of the Paris - Roubaix classic, and more than holding on to win by over a minute, was something of a surprise to me. If you've not heard of this particular bike race it has been run since the 19th Century, and involves sections of cobbles that would shake anyone on a mountain bike, let alone these high-spec road bikes.

Stonking stuff, especially when on a friend's giant cinema screen thingy while drinking Belgian beer and eating cheese and home-baked goodies.

Topped off later at home with pork belly and cider, and as for dessert, all I can say is from-scratch-homemade-custard is the business compared to powdered stuff or anything from a tin.

Sooooo nice having a Sunday night without the prospect of work on a Monday morning...
