Saturday 7 April 2012: rattenling
Despite going to bed almost two hours later than the normal latest the wingpiglet awoke within an hour of his normal wake-up time this morning without seeming particularly ill-affected. He ate adequately and quickly and was then able to pop outside to run up and down the garden pushing Ratten in the toy pushchair which lives in his grandparents' garage. There's also a plastic tricycle of approximately the right side but it's one of those ones where the pedals are attached to the hub of the front wheel, making it difficult to simultaneously learn to propel and steer, though he quite liked being dragged about on it, though not as much as running up and down the garden, pointing at woodlice and spiders and waving at his mum's car, visible from the far corner of the garden down the side of the row of sheds. On previous visits the work of keeping him off/away from things he might damage/be damaged by seemed much greater, whereas today the only real hovering required was when someone plonked him at the table to do some scribbling with crayons, which would usually be fine except that they had also provided a pencil sharpener, some felt pens (only some of which had child-trachea-friendly lids) and several permanent markers, even if most of them had been disabled by cousin Gemma not putting the lids back on.
