Monday 9 April 2012: Pacific Coast Iris
These plants are only a few inches tall, but deliver stunning flowers in the most amazing electric colors.
I've been trying to do at least an hour of weeding every day; it's about all I can manage on my knees. This afternoon I found a dahlia that's begun to sprout, but all its tender little shoots had the tops munched off by snails. I hope they fare better now that the area is cleaned up, but I often have to put strawberry baskets over them until they are stronger. Now I've got to clean myself up and start chopping things for dinner.
