Generation to Generation

This pitcher has a long history, and -- long story short -- the recent release of the 1940 US Census data prompted me to get it out today and read the note my grandmother had tucked in it when she gave it to me on my wedding day.

Another day house bound with a feverish child. She's also been complaining of a sore throat, but a visit to the pediatrician yesterday assured us that she doesn't have strep. Despite being served some of her favorite dishes all day, she didn't have much of an appetite, and at dinner she just put her head in her hands and said, "I'm just hungry for sleep." Poor thing. Needless to say, it was straight to bed after dinner.
