See Shell on the sea shore

If you walk along the coast to the north of Aldeburgh you come across Maggi Hambling's monument to Benjamin Britten: a vasty sea-shell shape facing the North Sea.

The Shell has raised high emotion in the town of Aldeburgh with shell-deniers grousing about its housing and periodically dousing it with paint.

They are - of course - totally and utterly WRONG.

The Shell is lovely and they are dam lucky to have it instead of that most horrible type of municipal memorial for which they are clearly hankering...
