Friday 13 April 2012: Free Friday
It was free Friday at Norton Priory Museum and gardens today so we popped down there.
It boasts the largest monastic excavation in the country and there is a magnificent 14th centuary sandstone statue of St Christopher who was patron saint of the abbey. That was before he was downgraded.
In it's original form the colours of the statue would have been as bright as those depicted in this stained glass window in the undercroft.
Looking closely at the window I notice that St Christopher is wearing nicky-tams.
