Friday 13 April 2012: Lake Ohau

Today dawned exceptional!! Off on the bikes at 9am and biked the Hydro canels around the Twizel area, easy biking. Called in at Lake Ruataniwha, world class rowing complex, took some silly photo's of the group on the medal podium!! Back to the house for a lovely lunch, cleaning up all the left overs while sitting on the terrace soaking up the autumn sunshine.
Packed up the vehicles and headed off to Lake Ohau Lodge for the night. Nestled along the lake side with stunning `180 deg views, brilliant.
We took a drive up the Hopkins valley to the Huxley Hut, a howling nor-wester with dust everywhere. This was taken on our way back to the Lodge. Mt Cook can be seen in the far background.
Its been a gorgeous day, followed by drinks and a superb dinner and wonderful hospitality. We had a good old sing song during and after dinner.....some free entertainment for the other guest (they chose to go to bed early).....oops.
