We can find art in the least likely places

Well, certainly at first glance anyway. It looks like an unimaginative office block. But this is a 'recycled' office block currently enjoying a new life as the 'arts complex' - a place for rehearsals and performance and creativity. There are studios here too, for photographers and other artists. Today L and I went to see our friend C in a work-in-progress performance of the four-handed musical, Ordinary Days, she and the rest of the cast have been rehearsing all week. The show will be on towards the end of June, but after this week, the cast will separate again and then come back together nearer the time for final rehearsals. We were part of a small, invited group - a few rows of seats - in a medium-sized rehearsal room. L and I ended up in the front row, really close to the performers. It was an affecting performance that drew you in to the stories of the four characters. At times funny and then sad, it already looked like a good show, and by the time it comes to opening night, in the proper space, with the real scenery, costumes and props, I'm sure it will be excellent!
