Sunday 21 September 2008: wild Quaker Parrot
these parrots live and breed around here. I've heard that they originally got loose from airports when shipments came in for pet stores years ago. You see (and hear-they're NOISY) them fly overhead a lot, but they tend to roost up very high, like on the tall floodlights they have at the fields where kids' teams play. It's not too often you catch them this low to the ground, but a group of 5 of them were busy feeding on something on these trees today.
