Monday 16 April 2012: Strippers!
780/365: ... apparently they're the children of a stripper too. Because when I was stripping the wallpaper earlier Felix yelled out merrily (and completely naively) 'Mummy's a stripper!'. Am so glad the windows weren't open and no-one else heard him. I wonder if he'll go back to school and tell his teacher that during the holidays mummy stripped?!
So, day two of the decorating marathon in the sitting room. This is the bit where, after they draw all over the walls, they get to help take the old paper off. Who would have thought that a mind-numbing chore could be so fun?! They both LOVED it. Weirdos! Actually, I kinda like it too - other than the icky sticky bit of it. It's a bit like squeezing a really good spot. Or peeling nail varnish off your nails in a big strip. Mmmmm. Gross. But sooooo good. :o)
And much better than the morning where I'd taken the kids to the supermarket as it was weekly shop day (I know how to spend my days off work, right?!). They were pretty helpful but it was pensioner day. One pensioner managed to clip Felix on his shoulder with her trolley. Another caught my hip with hers. And several of them blocked the entire cereal aisle as they dithered over porridge oats and cornflakes (go for the porridge, old people, the cornflakes will get stuck in your dentures - my advice). Urgh. And then I got interrogated at the checkout by the shop assistant who failed to recognise one of the veggies in my trolley. 'But what do you DO with it?!?!' she asked. 'I cook it. Put it in a curry. Mash it. Roast it. Y'know. Eat it.'
And talking of veggies (it's almost like there's a flow to this blip - flippin' heck!), we did a bit of gardening this afternoon in the veggie patch. Sowed some lettuce seeds, parsnip seeds, carrots, radishes and spinach. Fingers and toes crossed they come up. The kids also planted some sunflowers so we'll see if those work too. Oh, and the courgette seeds have germinated so yay for that as well! For my own record (and feel free to skip this bit), so far we've sown / planted asparagus, Jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, leaks, Spring onions, radishes, spinach, peas, sugar-snap peas, French beans, runner beans, broad beans, broccoli, sprouts, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, gooseberries, lettuces, parsnips, horseradish, butternut squash, chilli peppers, sweet peppers and tomatoes. Yum, yum!
PS Yesterday's blip was a back-blip
PPS Today's blip is pretty much the same as yesterday's
PPPS Let's call it a 'series'. :o)
