Follow My Leader

Ventured out for another walk by the North Esk, this time from Penicuik towards the Roman Bridge of  Penicuik House.

I have to admit that it is not the most attractive of routes, much of it between tall conifers and rather gloomy even on a bright sunny morning. However, we did have a sighting of a Greater Spotted Woodpecker which had been drumming in a tree above our heads.

We got as far as the Low Pond, where the field now has sheep and lambs, quite confident in the presence of humans and horses. I have not yet blipped lambs and was taken with this trio following each other over the path.

Having decided, as we are both still coughing and rather weary, that the High Pond could wait until another visit, so we returned the same way.
