Sunday 15 April 2012: Wild Things
Today I was drawn back to the Mughal Art Exhibition at the Ashmolean to see Howard Hodkin's collection of Indian art once again, before the exhibition ends next week.
This time I was armed with a magnifying glass and was amazed at some of the stunning detail I was able to see. Torn over what to blip I decided upon these chaps because they reminded me of Maurice Sendak's Wild Things...
As they "roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws" Max sets off calmly, in his boat, to leave them to it...
But the Wild Things cried, "Oh please don't go - We'll eat you up - we love you so!" ? Maurice Sendak.
