Oakwell Hall

Archive Blip

Oakwell Hall is an Elizabethan Manor House now run as a museum by Kirklees Council. Charlotte Bronte used it as the inspiration for the house Fieldhead, which features in her novel Shirley which is set during the events of the Luddite uprising.

This is a view through one of may fine mullioned windows, looking out to the garden through the old rippled glass.

I have a small set of images from the day here.
