Hon in Edinburgh

Tuesday 17 April 2012: Catherine

An early morning blip. I go past this part of Edinburgh pretty much every day, and always wanted to take a portrait against the Georgian buildings there. So I felt very lucky getting this opportunity. I liked how the lighting and the colour of this girl's hair stood out against the background buildings. I was also playing with different focal lengths and ended up preferring this to the wide angle shot.

Spent the lunchbreak picking up my repaired lens from Morningside, then playing with some of the secondhand manual focus Nikkors they had on sale. Fun to use a bit of nostalgia, but hard to justify acquiring for everyday use unless I get back my old manual focussing skills.
