Wednesday 18 April 2012: Let there be Light
I was asked for something a bit lighter today. So, what could be lighter than a rooftop terrace and a white Rioja? Actually, maybe a tonic water.
Out of the penetrating east wind it was quite warm around the corner in the sun. And later there was some televised footy and a jaw in a favourite old haunt which admittedly generated less light than heat.
But, I must record, increasing numbers of young foreign visitors are turning up at the howff. What's all this about? Has the death of the old boozer been turned around? Are the Pensioner and his chums now heritage attractions perhaps? I would like to think so. Holding the stomach in, sporting a fine waistcoat, speaking the broad lallans scots... just as well I kept the old olive green garb after all!
