Peter's Ponderings

By Lofty

Le président du gâteau

Picture the scene:

One lazy Thursday night, two people are sat on a sofa watching TV, in a flat in South East Essex.

A French chef pops up on the set and starts raving about French cooking in general and in particular a type of chocolate cake only found in Lyon.

"Wow... that looks good"

"We should go get some"

"Yeah, alright then"

"...."

"...."

"Really?"

4 weeks later these two people are sat on a hotel bed 600 miles away.

Between them has been carefully placed a small white box tied with ribbon with "Bernachon" written on it.

Untying the ribbon slowly so as to savour the moment, the box is opened carefully to reveal....

The President's Cake.

It's moist.

It's fruity.

It's alcoholic.

It's chocolaty.

It's bloody expensive.

It was worth every mile.
