Thursday 19 April 2012: national year of reading

2012 is the Aus National Year of Reading and in our library today saw this poster.

Readers in the various States and Territories voted on the book they thought best represented their part of Australia. It's an interesting selection of authors and subjects and quite wide ranging in terms of the 'story' matter they cover and a novel approach to covering such a HUGE landmass.

For anyone interested in looking a little deeper, for writings on the Northern Territory there is, amongst many, Nicolas`Rothwell and in Western Australia, well Perth really, The Shark Net when in the early 60s Perth, as a city, lost its sunbleached innocence.
