Thursday 19 April 2012: K is for...King's Cross concourse
I dropped Bertie off at the garage for his annual service this morning and then headed down to London by train for a client meeting. After the nightmare of yesterday's meeting, today's went brilliantly well and was actually rather fun, but more importantly I got to catch up with the wonderful friend who I'm working with on this project. She also gave me some good news on a proposal I'd helped out with last week.
The day took a downward turn on the way home, as one train heading north was cancelled, which meant the next train was packed. I ended up standing for the duration of the 45-minute journal, which wasn't fun in two-inch heels. Feet are ouchy. But the rest of the day turned good again, with Bertie not needing any major work and more really fantastic news on another proposal for another client. I'm feeling quite upbeat although exhausted after a busy two days.
Today's blip is for pontycyclops' alphabet challenge and is the stunning, spacious new concourse at King's Cross station. I was going to blip this yesterday until Elsie turned up and so was almost pleased to be going back down to London today. It's a far cry from the shabby and tiny old concourse, which felt a bit grubby and was always packed with people fighting to get to and from their trains.
Thanks for bearing with me and my serious lack of commenting. I'm still very up and down in terms of mood, fibro and colitis-type symptoms, which is a bit of a stress, and I'm struggling with non-essential communication. Hopefully all of the good news today, which seems to have temporarily lifted my writer's block, will keep me upbeat for a little longer :)
P.S. Just noticed last year's blip thumbnail is of St Pancras, which is just opposite!
