Canada Geese

We were at the end of our bay launching our little tin boat out of the boathouse when we heard this big ruckus. The 2 canada geese on this rock across the bay were having a fit and flying about like crazy birds. We saw the young eagle that was causing the problem swooping in and out. Then a 3rd and a 4th goose came flying in to help out. Finally the eagle flew away with Mom and Dad honking away on their rock. That's the eagle flying and you can just see 2 geese on the right standing on their rock -I wanted to show where they were...(you might have to look large..) The 3rd and 4th geese swam away... We had to take a walk to see if we could see them --by the time we got above this rock, Mom was settled down on her nest and Dad was watching out. Later we saw him settle down too in the grass. So I guess there are still eggs to sit on (2-12, the bird book says) and I think they should be hatching any day. Will try to keep a lookout - it's a pretty nice view from this nest high on the rock, but seems a bit exposed....the chicks do swim right away --I'd like to see them get to the water from this perch....

Moved some boats around...Rained late in the afternoon but that was perfect for our "cool down" shower after sitting in the hot sauna.
