The fool on the hill

Narrowly averted

I took the model out for a test flight. I had the GPS tracker on board to record the speed - which got up to 82mph in still air. Then I lost radio contact. The motor cuts out in this state and it was in a nice 42mph glide heading right over the middle of the housing estate towards Arosa Drive or maybe on into the grounds of QinetiQ (stupid name). I know this because I looked at the trace. Luckily for me I regained contact at the last moment when it was about 50 feet above the roof tops, which then required a bit of quick thinking and resulted in even more panic as I got it back on an even keel. That could have been embarrassing to say the least. Cheap Chinese radio gear you see.
