Thursday 19 April 2012: indications of light use

We usually attempt to drop the boy off at nursery with most of his breakfast off his face, no visible toothpaste-dribble marks and with his snoutpipes as de-snottered as can be achieved in the limited time available in the morning. When I picked him up today his hands were orange, there was some crusted stuff to the right of his mouth and more orange staining on his left cheek and stretching up over his left eyebrow. I have no problem about appearing in public accompanied by a stained youngster (or even clothing which has been adversely affected by the substances produced or transplanted by childs) but usually try and remind myself that it might be wise to carry something more than a handkerchief with me when going to pick him up, particularly if his snot flux levels are waxing, when a single handkerchief can be consumed in a couple of wipes.
