Saturday 21 April 2012: St Alfege Millennium Weekend

We've had a great day exploring Blackheath and Greenwich in London. We were checking out the start of tomorrow's marathon and enjoying a day's exploring at the same time.

Greenwich Park is very impressive with marvellous views over to the City. We walked down the hill into Greenwich Village and had a wander round the Market. Some very beautiful art and crafts were for sale.

Nearby was St Alfrege's Church which was celebrating a thousand years since the death of their saint at this place, with a special medieval festival run by Regia Anglorum. This weaver very kindly agreed to be blipped. She has dyed the wool with various plants and all were carefully labelled. Mum used to dye sheep's wool with lichen and so had a good chat, comparing notes with this lady.

Feeling a little anxious about the race tomorrow. Many thanks for all your good wishes and support. In case anyone is looking out for me, my bib number is 23829 I hope I arrive at the finish before its closes ;o)
