DEBATE....ENGLISH COMPETITION...

On any give day somewhere in China, you will find some kind of language study group, corner or competition going on. Young and old will be tuning their skills in their chosen language.
Here it was the Jiang xi Provincial English Competition held at one of the local universities.
I and others, Foreign and Chinese, judged the English and Non English majors, 58 in total, through a series of interviews on various topics and the top 8 end up here at the end of the competition, where they debated a chosen topic and had little time to prepare.
I find these competitions interesting and sometimes funny...always in a good spirit....I wish I was as devoted and hardworking as these students learning English, to learn Chinese..( photo by Iain Dewar)
