Wednesday 25 April 2012: little liz
liz and I, along with 6 other classmates, had a site visit today at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas.
The hospital has a long-standing history of treating orthopedic conditions began more than 90 years ago. And although there are criteria to become a patient, the service is free.
the orthopedic surgeons focus on the treatment, management and rehabilitation of children with orthopedic conditions such as: scoliosis, clubfoot, hip dysplasia,
limb length discrepancies & hand disorders.
the hospital really caters to children--warm and playful interior, a popcorn machine, interactive waiting areas. And most of the prosthetics and such, they make in house. it is really an amazing place.
today's visit was mostly a facility tour; but hopefully i'll get to visit again soon and talk to some of the physicians about their work.
i have a headache. i need to study. and go...
cheers,
L
