Sgwarnog: In the Field

Wordless Bond

mute swans
wordlessly make their bond
river in spate

The River Aire was in spate, but this pair of Mute Swans seemed to glide effortlessly over the surface as they renewed their bonds with a complex ritual of ducking and preening.

If I'd hung around all afternoon I may well have secured the classic heart-shaped image, but this other shot was as close as I got. Or you could have had some Greylag goslings, but the swans just had the edge.
