Friday 27 April 2012: Delays
Today's trip to Glasgow turned into a round trip just beyond Tomatin. The first announcement told passengers that the guard was "trying to contact the driver" to find out why we had stopped. It turned out there was a landslide ahead. We had a long wait while engineers were called to come and inspect the line to see if it was safe to continue. One look on the BBC website would probably answer the question... I'm glad the driver spotted it! Back to Inverness we went. Buses were laid on, but it would have been too late to get to Glasgow, so I had the rest of the day in the office.
One thing I noticed is that no one talks to each other on a train until there's something to moan about - then there's a bit of camaraderie. I hope the girls on their way to Newcastle got there in time for dinner, and the two gents from London made it there today!
Trying to get a refund was another story. And one I can't be bothered writing about!
