All Around My Life

Saturday 28 April 2012: Look! I herded them all by myself, I did!

This is Winston (aka Winnie) a Very Fierce Shihtzu Sheepdog who belongs to the riding instructor at the farm where Immy rides. He hangs out mainly with the horses and the farm dogs so he knows all about working sheep, because he's watched carefully. He knows that you have to Stare Very Hard and then do some running about and a bit of barking.

Winnie was watching these sheep this morning and decided they looked rather disorganised, so he slipped under the gate quick as lightning. First he Stared and then he started to dash about like a feather duster on ecstasy. It was the funniest thing to watch (especially when the sheep decided to chase him for while!) but he did succeed in getting them all lined up nicely in the end. Then he sat down and Kept Watch, while the sheep grazed. See the extended version here on Flickr.

Immy had a riding lesson on Percy and we arranged for her to increase her lessons to two per week, starting on Wednesday. Then we went home and she finished her unpacking before going out to find a lamp for her study desk, which Jonathan had finished painting while we were away. She's all excited because at last she has been given a homework assignment, for Social Studies (can you imagine a child actually wanting homework?! It's very odd, but she had actually begun to miss it as her new school gives them very little compared with her old school). Now we just have to get hold of the computer program that she needs to complete it! We finished off the evening with a very nice dinner at Jonathan and Lynley's house.
