Sports Writers Player of the Year Trophy, 1953

On the eve of the 1953 Cup Final Nat Lofthouse was named footballer of the year by the Sports Writers' Association. As well as his outstanding scoring record, Nat was honoured for his " conduct and sportsmanship".

Lesson to be learned there for some modern players, perhaps?

The trophy is on display in Bolton Museum where the awful weather drove us today.

This and a very near miss here.
