Crags and Loughs Day Two

The weather forecasts filled me with trepidation as I set out for today's walk. I was leading a 13 mile walk, all north of Hadrian's Wall, and including Crag Lough, Broomlee Lough, Folly Lake, Halleypike Lough and Greenlee Lough. The Crags included Steel Rigg, Hotbanks, Dove, Queens, Kings, Crow and Swallow.

We walked for 6 miles into the teeth of a roaring north easterly gale. It was hard work. Then we turned north and then west so the wind was behind us when the rain started. We completed the walk in 6 hours which was amazing, but we could not stop anywhere for long because of the wind chill.

Here are 2 brave souls, settled as low to the ground as they can be for lunch at The Homestead near Folly Lake.

It was a great day and we were able to join in Brian's birthday celebrations at the pub afterwards. He was 80 today and led our short walk to celebrate. Well done Brian.
