Sunday 29 April 2012: Sainte Chapelle

We spent the morning with K on île de la Cité. Ch was glad to see the bird market as she read and loved La petite fille aux oiseaux by Lucie Rauzier-Fontayne over her holiday. The market figures prominently in this 1958 book, a classic of French children's lit that I hadn't heard of before.

After the market and a visit to Notre Dame, we saw the Sainte Chapelle and its stunning windows. We met up with J at his favourite café for lunch and then walked with K to the Musée d'Orsay. The sun had finally come out at that point and the walk was really nice. It's been a good day and a nice one to ease us out of the holidays... very gradually, as Tuesday is a day off again. (Man, oh man...)
