Born to Shop

This morning we travelled to Shimbashi to see where Andrew works (Hitachi High-Technologies).  This is the business area of Tokyo and is normally swarming with Salary Men (as the men in suits are called).  As today is a public holiday, there were only a very few, most companies being closed.  The area is full of bars, cafes and massage parlours, so finding somewhere for lunch was easy - tempura with rice, noodles and soup on the side, with green tea - excellent.

After lunch we walked to Ginza (one of the main shopping areas) to visit a huge toy shop. The Tokyo equivalent of Hamleys.  Kio, of course was in seventh heaven, and it took some time to finally escape. We agreed with Kio over coffee what she would like and it was back to the shop, wallet to hand.

Needless to say she was happy, and has enjoyed playing with it since we've been home.

The photo shows Ginza Street, the main shopping drag.  The road is closed off during the day to allow the consumers free range to shop till they drop!  Each of the many buildings is a multi storied shop.
