beyond belief

risk and a pleasant surprise

This afternoon Renee and I reversed my Saturday logging road excursion. We drove to Port Renfrew Road near Shawnigan Lake. This road becomes Kapoor Main. We drove along this logging road until the intersection where I was with my brother on Saturday afternoon and where we met the motorcyclists. From this intersection we followed K-Line to M-Line and onto Holt Creek Main, which leads to Glenora. We live about five kilometers from Glenora. Unfortunately Holt Creek Main has a gate on it when the road ends in Glenora. We hoped that someone was at the gate and it was open. Seventeen kilometers driving along Holt Creek Main to the main gate. No traffic on the road. When we approached the gate, no vehicle parked at the guard house. House looked deserted. Oh no! We would have to turn back. Then a surprise, the gate opened. We drove through. The gate closed. I turned the car around and approached the gate from the Glenora side. The gate stayed closed.

What a surprise. We drove home in awe of our discovery.

Photo was taken at the head waters of the Koksilah River. Cold wind, rain and wintery conditions at the 800 meter elevation. We drove through patches of snow.
