Wednesday 25 April 2012: Jacaré

As we left the pousada, headed back towards Cuiabá, this alligator (or caiman) blocked the road. He was quickly intimidated by our car though, and slipped off into the water.

We watched the sun rise again in the morning from this very road and saw all manner of birds- parrots, blue macaws, tuiuius, ibis, storks, egrets, herons, king fishers, black vultures, hummingbirds, hawks, swallows, even a night jar! This place is alive. It's such a great ecosystem!
